It’s time for Christmas tree lightings in Stokes County. The Town of Danbury held its annual “Christmas in Historic Danbury” on Sunday despite the rainy and cold weather. The town Christmas tree lighting took place at approximately 6 p.m.

The City of King plans to hold their Community Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, December 5 at 7 p.m. in King Central Park beside the Spainhour Cabin. The West Stokes High School band will begin playing music of the season at 6:30 p.m. Santa will be on hand in the cabin for pictures with children; participants are asked to bring their own cameras. Light refreshments will be served.

Not to be left out is the Town of Walnut Cove which has planned a “Christmas in Fowler Park” for Saturday, December 6. Fellowship and music by local entertainers will begin at 4:30 p.m. with an offering of light refreshments such as cider, hot chocolate and cookies. The actual program, which consists of more music and Christmas messages from local pastors, will commence at 5 p.m. The tree will be ceremonially lighted at dark.
