Lady Vikings fall to Mount Airy

North Stokes hosted Mount Airy last Tuesday, but Lady Vikings came up short on the field.

The Lady Vikings fell behind 6-0 and couldn’t climb out of the hole. The Lady Vikings fell 6-2.

Mount Airy scored in the top of the third inning and padded its lead with five runs in the top of the fifth.

North Stokes finally got on the board with a run in the bottom of the inning and another in the sixth inning, but the Lady Vikings couldn’t overcome the deficit.

North Stokes finished with five hits and two errors. McKenzie Collins led the Lady Vikings at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a run.

Jade Lawrence pitched the complete game for the Lady Vikings.

Mount Airy finished with five hits and three errors. Kourtney Wagoner led the way at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI. Shay Taylor was 2-for-3 with a double, a run and a RBI.

Wagoner pitched the complete game for the win.

With the loss, North Stokes fell to 7-9 overall and 7-6 in the Northwest 1-A. The Lady Vikings will visit East Wilkes this evening at 6:30 p.m. and visit West Stokes on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
