North Stokes ladies basketball coach Jake Loy announced he’s stepping down and will be leaving the school to pursue a career in physical therapy.
“It’s something I’ve been thinking about for a while,” he said. “I just felt like I needed to go back to school and give myself a chance to try something new. I’m very grateful to North Stokes and the administration for giving me the opportunity to coach, teach and to hopefully make a difference in the lives of students.”
Loy was at North Stokes for three years and served as a JV basketball coach and varsity boy’s assistant coach. He also worked with the ladies soccer program for two years alongside athletic director Michael Richardson.
The girls’ basketball team finished 6-19 overall last season and 4-8 in conference play.
“When coaching, sometimes it’s not about wins and losses, but the growth they made and what hard work makes you feel like,” Loy said. “I hope the kids I coached learned about having passion; it doesn’t have to be basketball but whatever interests them.”
