After several months of investigative work, officers with the Stokes County Sheriff’s Office recently arrested 11 people on drug charges.

This latest effort by the Sheriff’s Office was titled “Operation Drag Net.”

Sheriff Mike Marshall explained, “Operation Drag Net was named this because of the various things that took place in these cases. We used strong undercover based techniques in the majority of these cases. Due to the strong efforts we made to cast the drag net in the right areas, we were able to present good strong evidence to make the charges.”

The Sheriff’s Office began the bulk of the warrant processing phase on May 1. Twelve people were wanted on a total of 53 charges related to the selling and using of drugs. As of Monday, 10 of the people had been arrested. Everette Brown was picked up Tuesday. The final suspect is currently in custody in Atlanta, Ga., on unrelated charges.

Marshall stated, “We are waiting on the extradition process to take place from Georgia.”

The Davie County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the arrest of one suspect, Mitchell Mayfield. According to the Stokes County Sheriff’s Office, he was driving from Davie County to sell crack cocaine and marijuana in Stokes.

On May 3, narcotics officers executed a search warrant at 2128 Chestnut Grove Road, King, home of Chadwin Gillispie and Crystal Gillispie. There they found 323 grams of synthetic cannabinoid, a synthetic marijuana.
