The Northwest 1A/2A all-conference list for spring sports was recently released. Several area athletes made the list as top athletes in the conference.
Baseball
South Stokes’ Brandon Ashburn, Josh Bray and Jamison Nagle made the all-conference list. West Stokes’ Jacob Craver, Caleb Cox, Zach McGee, Junior Snow and Jake Washer made the list, as well. Several athletes also made the list as honorable mentions: Justin Gravely and Matt Craddock from North Stokes; Tyler Hawks and Ross Jackson from South Stokes; and David Hughart and Tanner Lomax from West Stokes.
Softball
North Stokes got top honors on the all-conference list this year. Lady Viking Lindsay Brown was chosen as Player of the Year for her standout pitching this season. Lady Vikings Coach Jeff Frye got a Coach of the Year nod on the all-conference list, having coached his team to back-to-back conference championships. Brown, Sabrina Dodson, Rebecca Gunter and Heather Nall all made the all-conference list for North Stokes. South Stokes’ Amber Hawkins, Meagan Linville and Madison Tilley were all-conference picks. Brea Lawson, Lacey Grubbs and Lauryn Smith made the list for West Stokes. Honorable mentions: Ashley Smith and Carson Watkins of North Stokes; Samantha Gibbs and Michala Perdue of South Stokes; and Taylor Perkins and Samantha Seaman of West Stokes.
Golf
South Stokes’ Keenan Denny was chosen as an all-conference pick. Denny made it all the way to the State Golf Championship this year. Saura Wesley Lineberry also made the list, as one of the top golfers in the conference. Jesse Robertson made the list for West Stokes.
Soccer
Several members of local women’s soccer squads got top nods on the all-conference list this year. Brittany Finney, Taylor Rothrock and Leah Smith of South Stokes all made the list. Lady Saura Taylor Jones also won Goalie of the Year in the conference. She shares the title with Mount Airy’s Alia Halpern. For West Stokes, Taylor Bonds, Jordan Grubbs, Taylor Hopper, Macy Rutledge and Anyssa Van Meter made the all-conference list. Rutledge was chosen as Player of the Year. Honorable mentions: Brittney Jones and Sarah Beth Moore of South Stokes and Candace Gordon and Morgan Snow of West Stokes.
Tennis
Andrew Holmes made the list for West Stokes. Jacob Covington and Andrew Spainhour of West Stokes were picked as honorable mentions.
Men’s Track
West Stokes got star attention on the all-conference list this year. Brock Reynolds was chosen as Athlete of the Year. Wildcats Coach Larry Weldon was picked as Coach of the Year, having coached his track team to several conference championships. Jason Barber, Colby Fox, Matthew Garr, Justin Kielh, Aaron Lipchak, Austin Long, Zane McGee and Reynolds all made the list for West Stokes. North Stokes’ Andy Kopp and Laith Nickell were all-conference picks for their impressive work in pole vaulting this season. South Stokes’ Blake Campbell, Logan Cole, Keelan Goodwin, Daniel Millikan, Justin Nelson, Justin Rogers and Zach Singleton made the list.
Women’s Track
North Stokes took top honors on the all-conference list. Tess Rogers was chosen as Athlete of the Year. Rodney King was chosen as Coach of the Year. Marley Bollman, Shalynn Brown and Rogers made the all-conference list for North. South Stokes’ Alyssa Bonner, Laura Collins, Savannah Dalton, Kia Fulp, Danielle Jessup and Carrie Thomas all made the list. For West Stokes, Abby Emerson, Allison Eskridge, Kyimura Oliver, Kaitlyn Stone and Alesa Suvdliski were picked.
