The South Stokes High School Class of 2013 graduated Friday night in a ceremony at the school.
The ceremony began on the football field but was later moved into the gym due to a storm that rolled through. Students picked up their chairs and walked through the rain to reassemble in the gym for the completion of the ceremony.
Outside, students cheered on the speakers despite the looming storm. Then inside the gym, students clapped out beats and cheered as they waited for the ceremony to continue.
Principal Rick Menear said as the graduation began again indoors, “Believe me, this is gonna be a memorable one.”
Spirits remained high as the students received their diplomas on a stage set up in the gym while family and friends looked on.
