A Walnut Cove woman has been charged with murder after deputies found a man dead at a home on Brook Cove Road the night of June 26th.

According to Major Jeff Lemons with the Stokes County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a domestic call at 2548 Brook Cove Road, Walnut Cove, around 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 26. There officers found Donnie Lee Tilley, 59, and pronounced him dead on the scene of an apparent gunshot wound. Lemons said multiple shots were fired with a handgun.

Kelly Greene Robertson, 48, of Walnut Cove, has been charged with the murder. Both she and Tilley lived in the home and the incident appears at this time to be the result of a domestic dispute. She was present in the home when deputies arrived, according to a report from the sheriff’s office. Lemons said he is not aware of any previous domestic calls at the house. Robertson and Tilley appear to have been the only ones inside the house at the time of the incident.

An autopsy was performed on Tilley last week, but it could be a few weeks to a few months before the sheriff’s office receives the report back.

Robertson was originally held without bond in the Stokes County Jail. Her bond was then set at $1 million at her first court appearance on June 27.

You Decide: How should North Carolina fund roads?
My father was born in 1922 on a farm in rural Ohio. Horses and carriages were as common as cars. When the first road was built it was tolled, meaning only those who paid the gatekeeper at the entrance to the road could use it. This is how early roads were financed. If you used a road, you paid...
