Monty Stevens holds a plaque that was presented to him at the county government center last Friday at a retirement reception held in his honor. Stevens retired from his position as Stokes County EMS director on Jan. 1 after serving as director since 2004 and working for Stokes County EMS since 1980. Stevens said on Dec. 31, his last day, that he had mixed emotions. “I think it’s been a good career,” he said. “It’s time to turn the page.”
