The Wildcats invaded Viking territory Friday night for a 57-20 win in Danbury.
North Stokes jumped out to an early lead when Garrett Wood scored a touchdown on a 15-yard quarterback keeper. The kick was good, bringing the score to 7-0 with 4:47 to go in the first quarter. West Stokes responded when Austin Long ran five yards for a touchdown with 8 seconds to go in the quarter.
Then West Stokes’ Keyshawn Rawley made a pass to Dalton Seat who ran it in 38 yards for a touchdown less than a minute into the second quarter. West Stokes went up 14-7 with the good kick. Not to be outdone, North’s Matt Hopkins ran 43 yards for a touchdown a few plays later. But West gained back the lead with 7:16 to go in the half when Rashad Witherspoon broke multiple tackles to get a touchdown.
West continued to drive up the score from that point forward. North would only score one more time, when Wood passed to Hopkins for a 22-yard touchdown at the start of the final quarter.
West Stokes finished the night with 453 total yards, Witherspoon racking up 168 of them. North Stokes had 271 yards, with Hopkins gaining 127.
