The Sauras were ahead 7-6 late in the first quarter, but the Wildcats took back the lead 10-9 in the final seconds.

The two teams kept it fairly close in the second quarter, with a score of 31-26.

At halftime, the Wildcats were up by five points.

In the third quarter, the Sauras began to fall behind, as the Wildcats went up 47-35.

“South Stokes played well,” Wildcats Coach Dan Spainhour said. “They defended really well.”

But, Spainhour said his team played better in the second half.

“We moved the ball much better,” he said.

The Lady Wildcats, who were beaten earlier in the season by Sauras, had their revenge on Friday night. After a seven point deficit at the half, the Wildcats came back to beat the Sauras 59-42.

The Sauras came out strong against and grabbed a 10-8 lead, after a 3-pointer from Michala Purdue in the final minutes of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Lady Sauras captain Hannah Wood drained three treys in a span of about two minutes to help put the team ahead 25-18.

However, after halftime, the Lady Wildcats came back to the court like a different team.

Lady Wildcat Makala Bozman, who had trouble breaking through for shots in the first half, started to find her groove. Taylor McKinney put up two to tie the score up 32-32.

Wildcats Bozman and Chris Madigan kept it cool on the stripe in the final quarter to help the team stay ahead and grab a 59-42 win for the evening.
