After 10 days of rest due to rescheduling and inclement weather, the Wildcats took to the court Tuesday night to defend their home territory against North Surry’s Greyhounds. The Wildcats looked a bit rusty, but they proved they were still ready to ball. They took a four-point lead at halftime to a 57-33 win by the end of the game.

“I thought we were a lackadaisical in the first half,” Wildcats Coach Dan Spainhour said. “We were better in the second half.”

The top scorers for the Wildcats were Josh Spainhour (23 pts.) and Reid Goodson (20 pts.) Spainhour also hit his 1,000th point in the first quarter of the game.

The Wildcats improved to 7-1 in the conference. They will head to Mount Airy for an away game this Friday.

The Lady Wildcats struggled to come ahead in their game against the Greyhounds. By halftime, the Greyhounds had developed a 14-point lead, which gave the team breathing room the rest of the evening. With height, speeed and strong rebounding, the Greyhounds sailed to a 62-39 victory of the Lady Wildcats.

The top scorers for the Lady Wildcats were Abby Harris (17 pts.) and Makala Bozman (10 pts.)

West Stokes’ varsity girls team is now 2-6 in the conference.
