Hospice & Palliative CareCenter Walnut Cove hosted a Memorial Tree Ceremony & Reception for Families at Recreation Acres Community Building located in King on Thursday night. The Hospice Memorial Tree was decorated with ornaments lovingly crafted and assembled by Hospice volunteers. Each ornament had the name of a Hospice & Palliative CareCenter patient who died during the past year. Thanks Hospice for an enjoyable, sad evening.

Friday, December 14 and Sunday, December 16 — 7 p.m. — First Baptist Church of King will hold two nights of Worship and Celebration. They will celebrate His gifts to us by collecting non-perishable foods to donate to King Outreach Ministry both nights. First Baptist Church of King is located at 122 Kirby Road. Sunday, December 16 — 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. — King Moravian Church, located at 228 W. Dalton Road in King, presents “Service of Lessons & Carols.” The King Moravian adult choir and choristers with orchestral accompaniment under the direction of Mr. Drake Flynt will feature seasonal choral music. They invite the public to join them as they celebrate this joyous season in song and music!

King Public Library Christmas Open House — The Library will be having its annual Christmas Open House, sponsored by the Friends of the Library, on Monday afternoon, December 17th, from 2 until 6. Join us for refreshments as we celebrate the Joy of the Holidays and the success of the Employability Skills Lab provided by Forsyth Tech.

Santa Claus is coming to the King Public Library! Santa Claus will be visiting Preschool Storytime on Tuesday morning, December 18th, at 10:30. Stories, songs, holiday fun, and refreshments will be provided!

Thursday, December 27 — 1:30-7 p.m. — Trinity United Methodist Church will be holding a blood drive to honor Jobie Fie. Jobie was diagnosed with ALPS (Autoimmune Lymphoproliferative Syndrome) in April of 2009. ALPS is a rare autoimmune disorder with only 250 cases in the world. ALPS causes low platelet counts among other numerous autoimmune symptoms. Since there is no cure for ALPS at this time, Jobie will receive platelets throughout his life.
