Agencies can apply for federal funds

Stokes County has been awarded $8,315 in Federal funds under the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program. These funds will be used to supplement food and shelter programs in Stokes County with priority on paying past due rent and utility bills and providing emergency lodging.

Agencies interested in applying for these funds must contact local Board Chair Mike Culler at P.O. Box 1450, King, NC 27021 or 336-983-4357 no later than January 17, 2013.

Agencies must meet the following criteria: (1) Be private voluntary non-profits or units of government; (2) be eligible to receive federal funds; (3) have an accounting system; (4) practice nondiscrimination; (5) have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs; and (6) if a private voluntary organization, they must have a voluntary board.
