Meghann Evans has served as managing editor of The Stokes News since December 2011. As manager in charge of editorial content, she oversees the news and sports departments and writes articles for the news section of the paper and daily content for the Web site. She assigns stories, answers questions about editorial content from the general public, gathers and pursues news tips, writes articles on a variety of topics, and edits and structures the content for each week’s paper.
A native of Stokes County, Evans graduated from Salem College with a degree in communication and a concentration in journalism. Evans began her journalism career as a freelance writer for The Stokes News and other Heartland Publications newspapers, writing on topics ranging from municipal news to high school sports to arts and lifestyles. She then worked as a full-time news reporter for The Mount Airy News, another Heartland Publications newspaper, where her focus of coverage included county government and county law enforcement.
