The Mabe Family Reunion will be on Sunday, June 4 at lower level of Senior Citizen Center from 1:00 p.m. until. DeLaine Mabe reported the reunion and asked for all members to attend and bring a large picnic basket to share.

Bad times have a scientific value. These are occasions a good learner would not miss.

Why not learn to enjoy the little things – there are so many of them.

I believe half the unhappiness in life comes from people being afraid to go straight at things.

Even thou the weather was bad, we are happy to report that seventy-nine units of blood were received at the April 24 Blood Drive at Trinity United Methodist Church. The next blood drive will be June 26 from 2 to 7 p. m. Thanks for all those who participated in this drive.

Nothing can bring you peace but yourself.

To get stubborn red wine stains out of your holiday tablecloth, combine equal parts liquid dish soap and hydrogen peroxide in a bowl. Sponge or pour the mixture over the stain and let stand for a minute to pre-soak. Gently blot until the stain can no longer be seen. Then launder as usual.

When you do a favor for a friend, forget it. When a friend does a favor for you, remember it!

King Lions Club Gun Raffle is underway! Tickets/Donations are $20 each or 5 for $100. Drawing will be held at the King Lions Club meeting on May 23, 2017 and winners will be notified. Store potatoes in a cool, dark place. Excessive brightness turns them green and affects their taste negatively.

Vacation Bible school will be at Trinity UM Church July 9-12. Our program this year is “Maker Fun Factory”. The children will build, explore, and discover that they are lovingly crafted by God. We are all created by God and built for a purpose. All children ages 3 youth may attend. They need helpers and if you are interested, please see Karen Hall.

Plants with clay pots should not stand on floors easily damaged by water. Clay absorbs moisture and can ruin the area it touches. Be sure to use a pan or tray underneath.

1 lb salad macaroni

4 hard-boiled eggs (chopped)

1 small onion, finely diced

3 celery ribs, diced small

1 small sweet pepper, seeded and diced small (red or orange)


2 cups light mayonnaise

1/2 cup sugar

1/8 cup yellow mustard

2 tablespoons dill pickle relish 1 tablespoon white vinegar or 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

3/4 teaspoon celery seed

1/4 teaspoon salt

paprika (to garnish)

How to make it :

Cook the macaroni according to directions, drain well. While pasta is cooking mix up all the dressing ingredients till well blended and set aside.

Chop up all the veggies. When macaroni has cooled and drained well mix in the dressing (add all of it if you like very creamy salad.if you don’t like a lot of dressing leave out about 1/2-3/4 c of the dressing. Remember that as it sets it will soak up some of the dressing.

Refrigerate for at least one hour, the longer you let it set the better the flavor.


1 cup sugar, 1 1⁄4 cups water, 2 tablespoons cornstarch, 1⁄4 cup strawberry gelatin powder (recommend Jello), 4 cups fresh strawberries, halved, 1 9-inch baked pie crust, sweetened whipped cream (optional) Directions

1. Bring sugar, water and cornstarch to a boil over medium heat.

2. Cook stirring constantly for 1 minute or until thickened.

3. Stir in strawberry gelatin until dissolved.

4. Remove from heat; chill 2 hours.

5. Arrange strawberries in pastry shell and pour gelatin mixture over.

6. Cover and chill 2-4 hours. 7. Serve pie with whipped cream if desired.
