By all accounts, last Saturday’s Francisco Community Market Day was a winner. Although misty rain fell that morning, the sun came out later and all events went according to plan. Many enjoyed the country breakfast (always a favorite) provided by the Ladies Auxiliary. The Francisco Fire Department was extremely pleased with the turnout at the safety exhibit that included a tractor roll over, chainsaw and power take off safety. Everyone enjoyed the toe-tapping music by the various bands and the hotdog business was busy. Now we start planning for the next event.

There will be Bingo at the Francisco Community Building Saturday, May 20. More details next week.

There is some discussion of starting a “Walking Group” possibly twice a week here at our walking trail. We have such a wonderful area to walk and if you are hesitant about walking by yourself, this is a good opportunity for you. Maybe this is something that we can get started in the next few weeks.

Strawberries are in, and from what I hear, they are delicious. Check out some of the local Farmer’s Markets and berry patches. There is nothing like fresh strawberries! One of the things I miss most about my mom is her strawberry pie. I have never been able to duplicate it. If anyone has any good strawberry dessert recipes, let me know.

I also hear that ticks are in abundance this year. Be sure to check yourself after you have been outside, check the kids, check the dogs, check Grandma, (on second thought, ask Grandma to check herself). Those pesky, small ticks could be a really big health problem. Just be careful.

Prayers for the Clossie Goad family and the Earl Flippin family. Please lift these precious families up in prayer.
