The Bookmobile will not be coming to Francisco for the next two Mondays. They follow the same calendar as the county government so December 26 and January 2 will be holidays for them. They will return on January 9. This will give you plenty of time to read the book you got from them last week.

Check out the information kiosk at the Francisco Walking Trail. This little information hub is located by the edge of the parking lot to the left of the entrance of the Walking Trail. It contains business cards of our local residents and flyers from organizations with upcoming events. If you or your organization or church have anything you would like posted, please feel free to use our kiosk. More and more people are enjoying our Walking Trail and are taking advantage of our recreational beauty right here in our own backyard!

Please keep in mind that after the holidays, we MUST get to work on our Task Force which is now in the process of coming together with the sole purpose of developing the plans for the future use of Francisco School. We have a lot to do with a short time in which to do it. We need people with an ability to get things done, in other words, we need CHAMPIONS. Champions are people who are not afraid to step out on faith, who can work toward a goal to the end, and can see the future as a positive challenge. The future of our Francisco School is vitally important to our area, the northern end of the county. Although it’s no longer our elementary school, it can still provide our communities with area needs. What do you envision? What’s needed most? You tell us!

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone that reads the Francisco News a very, Merry Christmas! Let us not forget why we celebrate this wonderful day. Please pray for those who are sick and those who have lost loved ones this year. Not everyone has the “greeting card “ holiday. Take a batch of cookies to the elderly in the nursing home, take some canned foods to the Food Pantry or buy an extra present for a child whose parents may not have it quite as good as you. They say Christmas is the time for giving, but shouldn’t it be that way all the time? Just a thought.
