Falling temperatures mean changing leaves and I just heard on the news that this week will be peak color on the Blue Ridge Parkway. But, if you can’t get to the Parkway, just look outside. We truly live in a beautiful place.
Several area churches will be having their “trunk or treat” events this weekend. Francisco Presbyterian will be having theirs on Saturday evening, October 29. Collinstown Presbyterian is having theirs Monday evening, October 31, starting at 6:00 pm and they are also having a hot dog supper as well. This way, the ghosts and goblins can load up in one stop. The trunk or treat events are a lot safer for the kids, but I do have wonderful memories of going door to door in the neighborhood when I was little. Virginia Vaden’s mom and dad, George and Eddie Flippin, always had the full size candy bars and Gladys Stevens always had cookies. Some places were just special!
Speaking of scary things, the election will be coming up in a couple of weeks. Please get out and vote. Our local elections are really important also. Make your voice known and vote!
Please watch out for the farmers trying to get in the last of the crop before the frost. The weather made this year’s tobacco crop somewhat late, so please be mindful of tractors along the roadside.
Continued prayers for R.W. Goins, Sarah Lou Rogers, Jennifer Overby and Michael Willard. Please remember each one of these and their precious families.
