The weather, along with the full moon, could not have been any better for the Fourth Annual Martin-K9 Pet Grooming Haunted Hayride last Saturday night. Approximately 400 ghosts and goblins enjoyed the haunted trip down through the woods and out past the cemetery. One couldn’t help but notice when the clouds went over the full moon, the night took on an extra spooky glow. Thirty students, who volunteered the spooky performances, and twenty adults who volunteered in the food service department, made this hayride a huge hit! A big “thank you” goes to Pastor Tracey Collins and Kim Holland from Francisco Presbyterian Church and Lee Charleville, owner of River Rock Café, in Danbury, for the food contributions along with the people who brought the extra treats for sale. Proceeds from the sale of the rides and food were donated to the Our Communities Group to go toward the Francisco School Project. The Northern Stokes Food Pantry also benefited from the hayride, since canned foods items were also collected. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the sponsors of this event as well as our Francisco Farmfest. They include: Luna’s Trail Farm and Event Center, Tarheel Mobile RV Service, Cooke Rentals, Duke Energy, Carolina Ziplines, Surry Telephone Membership Corp., Surry-Yadkin EMC, In Memory of Lloyd and Rachel Collins, Stokes Tire and Automotive, Dunkley’s Automotive, Carolina Farms and Homes, B.J.
