West Stokes first annual variety show on Friday, May 12 was well attended and raised more than $500 to help Stokes students and animals in need.
Nine different student acts participated in the competition. There were singers (Hope Sharp, Bayleigh Jarrell, and Brittney Mabe), students playing instruments individually as well as with a band (Zach Young, Tyler Cain, Kyle McCloud and members of the West Stokes Jazz Band), dancers (Sally Thompson and Ein Comer-Taylor), and performance of a moving poem (Olivia Livingston).
Local singer and songwriter Taylor Vaden, a former West Stokes student, put on a special performance for his hometown audience. He helped judge the competition along with West Stokes faculty member Troi Hicks. Hicks also performed at the event. A few student acts were accompanied by the local band Tom Foolery and the Shenanigans as well as West Stokes choir director Matthew Wells.
