Andrew Warren Johnson was charged with one count felony flee to elude, felony possession of stolen property and resisting a public official on Tuesday, May 2. He is being held on a $50,000 secured bond.

The 24-year-old from Pinnacle was traveling in a Honda Accord stolen out of Alamance County and refused to pull over during a vehicle stop on Highway 66 in King.

The fleeing vehicle wrecked less than half a mile from where it struck another car. Occupants in Johnson’s car fled the scene on foot.

The accident is being investigated by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

“Speeding to get away from law enforcement is not a very smart move,” said Sheriff Mike Marshall. “These suspects are lucky they weren’t seriously hurt. I want to thank the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, King Police Department, and North Carolina License and Theft Bureau for their assistance once again.”

The investigation is ongoing, as deputies and detectives continue to try to locate the other passengers.
