LAND TRANSFERS


In recording deeds, the state of North Carolina does not require that the amount paid for property be stated on the deed. However, a tax stamp at the rate of $2 per $1,000 valuation or fraction is thereof affixed to each deed.

The following people were arrested and charged by the Stokes County Sheriff’s Office. The information includes the arrested person’s name, address and charges received.


Kenneth Eugene Bennett, 52, 4050 Greene Haven Apt. 172, Winston-Salem, charged with four counts felony traffic opium/heroin, one count manufacture/sell/deliver/place Controlled Substance within 1000 feet of school and one count felony maintain dwell/vehicle/place. Bond is $50,000 secured.


Carolyn Michelle Byrd, 38, 333 Northfield Drive, King, charged with felony conspiracy to obtain property, felony aid and abet obtain property and felony obtain property. Bond is $5,000 secured.


Carolyn Michelle Byrd, 38, 2112 Chestnut Grove Road, King, charged with felony possession goods/property. Bond is $1,500 secured.


Brandy Nicole Hartman, 31, 333 Northfield Drive, King, charged with felony possession stolen property goods/goods and misdemeanor failure to appear. Bond is $2,000 secured.


Joshua Matthew Murphy, 333 Northfield Drive, King, charged with felony breaking and entering, felony larceny and felony possession of stolen goods. Bond is $2,000 secured.


Chad Coleman Morton, 31, 602 Stokesburg Road, Apt. 2, Walnut Cove, charged with Trafficking Schedule III Narcotic, misdemeanor possession Schedule IV Narcotic and misdemeanor concealment of goods. Bond is $2,500 secured.


Donald Thomas Penland, 35, 1114 Tilley Road, Walnut Cove, charged with felony possession of firearm by a felon, possession of stolen goods and misdemeanor assault on a female.


Anthony Wade Smith, 56, 4553 NC 89 Highway E, Walnut Cove, charged with felony assault with deadly weapon serious injury. Bond is $5,000 unsecured.


Mark Dewayne Greene, 43, 275 Torrence Drive, Winston-Salem, charged with felony habitual felon. Bond is $1,000.


Andrew Benton Joyce, 27, 1281 Joyce Mill Road, charged with felony larceny of firearm. Bond is $2,500 unsecured.


COUNTY INCIDENTS


The following incidents/investigations were reported to the Stokes County Sheriff’s Office recently. The information includes the area where it occurred, the incident and any additional information provided.


Breaking and entering and larceny were reported at Ring Road, Westfield, when $500 air conditioner, $500 dryer and $2 drink bottle were stolen.


Breaking and entering and larceny were reported at Bowen Road, Pinnacle, when $50 assorted scrap metal was stolen.


Fraud was reported at Charlotte Lane, Walnut Cove, when $10 furniture movers, $14 neck rest, $33 tube tops, $17 make-up, $19 dress, $9 necklace and $20 dress were stolen.


Breaking and entering and damage to property were reported at Covington Road, King, when $100 damage was done to outbuilding door and $100 damage was done to house door.


Breaking and entering was reported at Whitaker Road, Pinnacle.


Breaking and entering and larceny were reported at Fire Rescue Lane, Lawsonville, when $140 pistol and $2 prescription medicine was stolen.


Breaking and entering, larceny and damage to property were reported at Capella Road, King, when $250 revolver and $5 US currency were stolen and $100 damage was done to door.


Forgery and larceny were reported at Baux Mountain Road, Germanton, when $5 title to vehicle was stolen.


Concealment of goods, trafficking Schedule III Narcotic, concession Schedule IV Narcotic, were reported at Highway 65 West.


Property damage was reported at Amostown Road, Sandy Ridge, when $200 damage was done to window.


Breaking and entering and larceny were reported at Spainhour Mill Road, Pinnacle, when $500 IPod, $1,500 computer and $500 hand gun were stolen.


Damage to property was reported at Spring Street, Walnut Cove, when $100 damage was done to tires.


Breaking and entering, larceny and damage to property were reported at Northfield Drive, King, when $60 copper tubing, $35 copper tubing, $45 copper sheeting, $120 pumps, $600 refrigeration deck, $200 motor and $80 compressor were stolen and $800 damage was done to siding.


Breaking and entering and larceny were reported at Joe Scales Road, Sandy Ridge, when $3,500 model trains were stolen.


Larceny was reported at Chestnut Grove Road, King, when $3,800 air conditioning unit was stolen.


Larceny was reported at Piney Mountain Road, Walnut Cove, when $83.44, $80.01 and $49.56 checks were stolen from mailbox.


Trespassing was reported at NC 268 Highway East, Pinnacle.


Violation of domestic violence order was reported at Dalton Loop Road, Pinnacle.


Breaking and entering and larceny were reported at Newsome Road, Apt. 4F, King, when $45 cans of baby formula, $60 infant car seat, $35 propane camping grill and $250 large tent were stolen.


Larceny was reported at Rosebud Road, Walnut Cove, when mail was removed from mailbox.


Breaking and entering and larceny were reported at Parkview Drive, King, when $5.20 prescription medicines, $70 pocket knife, $15 pocket knife, $15 cell phone holder and $49 bags of play sand were stolen.


Breaking and entering and larceny were reported at Farmers Road, Walnut Cove, when $20 damage was done to metal lock, $200 aluminum radiator, $1,000 engine block and $8,000 complete racing engine were stolen.


Fraud was reported at Watts Road, Walnut Cove.


Larceny was reported at Northfield Drive, King, when $199 push mower and $100 metal ladder were stolen.


50B violation and stalking were reported at Tuttle Road, Walnut Cove.


Breaking and entering and larceny were reported at Stewart Road, Walnut Cove, when $90 prescription medicines were stolen.

Damage to property was reported at Elghannam Court, Madison, when $5,000 damage was done to septic system and $2,000 damage was done to trees.
